On November 6, Mr. Zhan Zhenyang, Chairman of Shandong Zhenyang International Trade and Ambassador to the BRICS Cities Forum, organized the Investment Promotion Bureau of Yantai Economic and Technological Development Zone to attend the 2nd BRICS Cities Forum via video conference upon invitation.
The forum was initiated by the BRICS International Municipal Forum, hosted by its organizing committee, and co-organized by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the Russian Business Association. Centering on the theme of "Boosting import and export trade among BRICS nations and enhancing regional investment appeal", the event drew speakers from political, business and academic circles of China, Russia, India, South Africa, Peru and Brazil. Russia's Channel One broadcast the forum live throughout.

With the assistance of Mr. Zhan Zhenyang, Chairman of Shandong Zhenyang International Trade, the Investment Promotion Bureau, as the sole representative of a Chinese city invited to the forum, introduced the development zone's business environment and foreign trade & investment to participating guests from various countries, and sincerely invited people from all walks of life to visit Yantai for exchanges. The Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Russian Business Association, co-organizer of the forum, spoke highly of the sound business environment here and expressed the hope to send a delegation for an on-site visit and exchanges after the pandemic ends next year.

BRICS is the acronym for five countries: China, Russia, India, Brazil and South Africa. As an annual exchange event, the BRICS Cities Forum aims to build a platform for cities across BRICS nations to enhance communication and explore cooperation opportunities in economy, culture, science and technology, tourism and other fields. With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and the St. Petersburg Municipal Government, the forum was included in the official event calendar during Russia's BRICS Presidency in 2020.
